Sync and backup

Booko keeps your content on your device, with optional iCloud sync across devices.

Booko has no accounts and no server-side profile. Your notes and thoughts are stored on your device by default.

Local first

  • Every feature works without signing in.
  • Content stays on your device; it is not uploaded to a Booko server.
  • Deleting the app deletes its local data, so back up or enable iCloud sync first.

The full description is in the privacy policy.

iCloud sync

If you use more than one device, turn on iCloud sync in Booko’s settings. Your notes then stay consistent across devices through your own iCloud account.

Before turning it on, check that:

  • all devices are signed in to the same Apple Account;
  • iCloud access for Booko is enabled in system settings;
  • the device is online and has enough iCloud storage.

The first sync takes a moment. With many entries, leave the app in the foreground until it settles.

Backups

Even with iCloud sync on, it is worth keeping your own backup:

  • a full iPhone or iPad backup (to iCloud or a computer) includes Booko’s data;
  • for notes that matter most, keep a copy in whichever notes app you already use.

Moving to a new device

Install Booko on the new device, sign in to the same Apple Account, turn on iCloud sync, and wait for your data to appear. If sync was never enabled, turn it on from the old device first and let it finish.
