Import reading notes

Bring highlights and thoughts from WeRead, Apple Books, and Kindle into Booko.

Booko imports notes exported from other reading platforms and organizes them by book.

WeRead

WeRead can copy a book’s notes to the clipboard, and you paste them into Booko.

  1. Open the book in WeRead and go to the Notes page.
  2. Tap Export notes in the top right.
  3. Select the highlights and thoughts you want, then tap Copy to clipboard.
  4. Switch back to Booko, import from the clipboard, and confirm the title and author.

Exporting notes from WeRead and copying them to the clipboard

WeRead limits how much can be exported at once. For a book with many notes, export and import in several batches — Booko merges them under the same book.

Apple Books

Open the book’s notes view in Apple Books, select and copy the note text, then import from the clipboard in Booko.

Kindle

Kindle highlights can come from the Kindle app’s export feature or from the My Clippings.txt file on the device. Import that text into Booko.

Before and after importing

  • Check the title and author. You can edit them during import; once they match, repeated imports of the same book merge automatically.
  • Importing twice is safe. Booko skips entries that are identical to ones already stored, so you will not get duplicates.
  • Import only part of a book. Select just the highlights you want when exporting, or delete unneeded entries inside the book afterwards.

If an import comes back empty

Usually the text format is not what Booko expected. Confirm the note text is actually on the clipboard and try once more. If it still fails, send the text to [email protected] so the format can be checked.
